How HM TRENDS collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Who we are
HM TRENDS sells clothing online from Accra, Ghana. We are responsible ("the data controller") for the personal information described here. Our legal name, registration number, address and phone number are shown at the bottom of every page.
What we collect
- Order details: your name, email, phone number, delivery address and GhanaPost GPS, what you bought and how much you paid.
- Payment details: your Mobile Money number and network, and the payment reference. Card payments happen on our payment provider's secure page, so we never see your card number, and we never see your Mobile Money PIN.
- Account details if you create an account: your password (stored scrambled, so nobody can read it) and your saved address.
- Messages you send us through the contact form, WhatsApp or reviews.
- Marketing choices: whether and when you agreed to hear from us.
- Visit counts: we count page views and visits per day. This count holds no personal information.
Why we use it
- To take, deliver and support your order, and to send you order updates by email and SMS. We need this to fulfil our contract with you.
- To keep tax and accounting records, as Ghanaian law requires.
- To send news and offers, only if you have opted in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also switch marketing off in your account.
- If you ticked "Email me new drops and offers" and left checkout without paying, to send you one reminder about the items in your bag.
- To keep the shop secure and stop fraud.
Who receives it
We share only what each service needs, and we never sell your data.
- Our payment provider processes payments.
- Couriers and riders receive your name, phone number and address to deliver your order.
- Neon stores our database and product images (servers in the United States).
- Vercel and Render host the website and the system behind it (servers in the United States and the European Union).
- Resend sends our emails (United States). Arkesel sends our SMS messages (Ghana).
Some of these services store data outside Ghana. We only use providers that protect personal data to a standard at least as high as Ghanaian law requires.
How long we keep it
- Orders: as long as Ghana's tax law requires (currently six years).
- Your account: until you delete it.
- Marketing consent: until you unsubscribe.
- Checkout reminders: up to 7 days.
- Sign-in and reset codes: they expire after 10 minutes.
Cookies and storage
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores your bag, wishlist and sign-in on your own device, so the shop works between visits.
Keeping it safe
Your data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are scrambled, and staff use individual accounts with sign-in codes. Daily backups are encrypted. If a data breach is likely to affect you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as soon as reasonably possible.
Your rights
- See your data: download a copy from Account › Privacy.
- Correct it: update your details in your account, or ask us.
- Delete your account from Account › Privacy. We keep order records only for as long as the law requires.
- Stop marketing at any time.
- Complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission (dpc.gov.gh) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
